High tide
A colourful night on the beach of Petten, near the famous Palendorp. This time no wet feet, but just a full hour of total fun on the beach on my own.

Cold mornings
Last week we had some cold days in the Netherlands. An ideal opportunity to shoot some cold sunrises and playing and testing the Benro universal filters. This is one of the very last front light shots I took Friday. Stacking up 2 filters and still I needed some photoshop to repair the bleached out sun.....

Lago di Braies, Pragser Wildsee, Dolomites (It)
This was, besides the many photographers that where already on site, the first vista I saw when visiting this unique scenery at the Pragserwildsee. The sun was still setting on the left and the Irix ulltrawide had to do her job. A perfect scene for this lens. I am still amazed by the peacefull and calm water reflection and the way this place attracts so many people. This picture reminds me of a day full of lakes with calm water and reflection. Enjoy the view as well... wider than this you can only get via a panorama 😉

Maximum Autumn in the Italian Dolomites
Plans are nothing, planning is everything said D. Eisenhower! One thing he learned as well, the weather is something you can't influence. So D-Day was postponed. The same analogy is with photography. We planned early for visiting the Dolomites in the last week of October.
And we arrived at the Val di Funes where the colors where almost on their maximum, the weather was just perfect. The week after we were there, this scenery was covered with snow. Also nice, but these where the moments we planned for; nice temperatures and golden autumn colors combined with the typical scenery of the Dolomites. Enjoy.

The plane that flew through the Sun
Dolomites Autumn 2017 Val di funes.
A morning to remember. Being there early, hoping for nice morning colours but that idea quickly dissapeared. It simply didn't happen. Actually I enjoyed the scenery behind me much more. And than it all had to do with timing, the sun peaked through the Odler peaks behind the little church.
Just in time I could capture this moment and after the moment and looking back on my camera display I saw the plane that flew through the sun.
Enjoy your weekend.

Maria Gern @Berchtensgadenerland Bayern
Think I am spoiled with a lot of unedited images in my Lightroom catalogue. Last year I was quite productive, partly thanks to visiting during summer holidays this very photogenic location in Bayern (South Germany) with in the background the Watzmann mountain.
Despite the overcast me and a German photographer standing next to me where happy with that little sunlight moment to the right..... I certainly return here for a new attempt, maybe autumn this year or early spring with maybe some snow on the Watzmann. Took this shot with an APS-C camera for Sigma Benelux with the very sharp Sigma 18-35 mm f/1.8 Art. I used this body and lens for my blog item for Camernu.nl as well. Which you can read here: www.cameranu.nl/nl/blog/n14445/op-vakantie-met-de-sigma-1...

Heath feaver part 4 | #Heidekoorts 4
Can you imagine waking up at 5 am in the morning, raining cats and dogs and having planned a landscape photoshoot with your photobuddy! Well I did and after I was awake, WhatsApping with Sander he convinced me let's go.
So we went and just when I parked the car, it stopped raining. Within an hour from driving through the rain, we where shooting this scene. And as a bonus we got the nice upcoming layer of fog over the heather fields. It turned out great and it was again a great morning for heather landscapephotography. We said: the heathfeaver made us do it 🙂

Heath feaver #heidekoorts part 3 "I had the time of my life"
The last few weeks the heather was blooming perfectly around various moors not far from my home. I unexpectedly woke up early. I decided to visit a place which I scouted before. No signs of fog where around when I drove to the place, but when I parked the car I almost from excitement wetted my pants! What a fairy tale scenery lay ahead. I quickly walked to the location and kept shooting frames till the fog dissapeared. I truly had a the time of my life in this recently discovered heather field. I hope you like this image as much as I did that morning and when developing it.

Heath fever | Heidekoorts
It is that time of the year that the Dutch heather fields of the Veluwezoom, the Posbank are blooming. Wonderfull purple heather layers over the sloppy hills of the Herikhuizerveld are a unique scenery to experience. Last Wednesday the conditions where very good (okay almost too foggy) for shooting the image I had in mind.
After a nice walk with photo friends Sander & Peter we reached our photo spot. It was a spectacular Wednesday morning, the scene, the smell, the colors, the sound and because it seems that every year more and more photogs find this place for shooting their heather landscape.
My mission was accomplished this morning, this time it took me just 4 times to make the heath fever disappear and this is one of the shots I am personally very happy with. It was taken just a few minutes after sunrise with the Sigma 24-105mm f/4.0 DG OS HSM Art and a Lee ND4 0,6 Hard grad filter which I used for the first time. More images follow soon or can be found on my soon to be ready blog called: heath fever.

A heather landscape in portrait orientation
the purple hills are blooming! Many landscape and photographers stroll around on the famous Dutch hills of the Posbank. So did I this morning, together with friend Sander. The wind killed the fog, while the heather conditions were great. Had a great morning where I enjoyed the lovely morning colours on the slopy heather land hills. Image taken with the handy Sigma 24-105 mm. f/4 ART lens for Canon mount.

101e Nijmeegse vierdaagse bij dageraad
This morning I made a new attempt shooting the bridge at dawn when the walkers make their crossing. A very challenging task I can say. Not only since I woke up at 3.30 am. (CET) but also dealing with the light, high ISO, focus and shutter speed. This shot was taken at 05:25 am. and I like the huge stream of walkers on the bridge. When the stream gets larger you can capture them with 1/15 of a second, but it still takes ISO400.
You hear them singing, marching while the night turns into day. On the left the sun is almost out there.
The International Four Day Marches Nijmegen is the largest multiple day marching event in the world. It is organised every year in Nijmegen, Netherlands in mid-July as a means of promoting sport and exercise. Participants walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers daily depending on their age and gender, and, on completion, receive a royally approved medal (Vierdaagsekruis). The participants are mostly civilians, but there are also a few thousand military participants. This year it is the 101st edition of this unique event.

Do you want to go to the plage with me...
A phrase from a song from the Crystal Fighters.... and overtime I hear this song I have to think of one of the most lovely photospots near the 'Plage' in South Holland, Rockanje. Also this evening was quite spectacular where some bad weather was predicted, but it turned out to be fantastic with light and colours as you dream of.

Morning has broken #bluehour at the fisherman pond
With my feet deep in the mud to capture the fluid reflection of the tree in the lake. The sunset rapidly while pushing my reversed filter and camera sensor to the limit.... I just love the mix of blue hour and sunset colors... #magic

Typical Dutch @Kinderdijk
On a windy day, rain clouds and sunshine drifting over the Netherlands we decided to make a short stop at the famous Kinderdijk windmill area. The light was so gorgeous in combination with the yellow and brown tones, I had later on in post a hard time picking the right images. Patience was needed in this shot because of tourists passing by in the back, the chasing light and the motion/positioning of the mill blades between the tree and the shed..... think this shot fits perfectly in my new series Typical Dutch.

Tulips on a white dotted sky
Goerree Overflakke, less crowded and nice fields with bulbs instead of the traditional area Lisse. We were lucky getting during daytime this typical Dutch sky. Enjoy.
Texel Paal 28 a cold sunset
Been here several times, mostly with clear skies and nice temperatures. But this year is different. Beautiful cloudy landscapes making every landscape photographer thrilled even outside the golden hours. After a nice dinner @Paal28 I was able to go out and shoot this panorama... Enjoy!
Golden Hour @Texel de Cocksdorp
Landscape photography is for me all about chasing the light and most of all being at the right place at the right time. This autumn morning I went to the old Harbour for a sunset shot. Unfortunately that gave me nothing, dull skies and dull light. So I decided to take a look from a different angle and than the magic happend. The sky opened up and in the golden hour the whole scenery transformed. It was just to good to be true.....
To good to be true is also that until last week these images only where visible in my mind, since the portable hard disk the RAW files where on crashed. Lucky for me a full export of medium sized JPEG images was on the USB stick of my wife allowing me to share this memory. For my Dutch followers you can read the blog post here about that: nldazuu.com/alles-voor-een-glimlach-en-toch-verdriet/
