Love is...
sharing the view in the golden hour, when the last golden lights shines on the hills of Campo Imperatore in the Italian Abruzzo National Park. The back drop shows the Corno Grande, one of the highest mountains in the park. I am enjoying together with one of my oldest photography friends Maarten Takens a private photo trip this autumn (currently) over here.
When I saw this couple, a photographer and I assume his wife, I imagined myself sitting here with my wife in the near future. I've seen the Dolomites but this region is also highly recommended to visit. Can you imagine, I stood here today in t-shirt with some very nice calm warm weather on 1.500 mtr. above sea level.

Autumn surprise
A flock of light, sunflowers and autumnal colours. A rare combination for me to find and photograph. But during a nice walk I engaged with this scene. For a short moment some light gave that extra feeling. Light that we after this didn't welcome back due to the incoming rain.

Sky on fire
When autumn nights bring incredible lights in the sky. Made a handheld 50 mm. panorama shot to show the wider atmosphere as with a 16-35 lens te backdrop would be getting to little.

Stormfront and the Oversteek bridge
Whilest driving home from one of my last heath fever walks and photoshoots for this 2025 heather season I saw this weather change building up from Brabant where I earlier was.
When passing this unique bridge, The Oversteek, I decided not to drive home but go to this spot to see if could intercept this cloud and thunder storm. As you can see I managed. What I really like in this photo is the reflected light from behind me lighten up the bright parts of the bridge and windmills below the bridge en the cows in the foreground.
An incredible moment, where als the wind strongly picked up and temperature dropped from a nice 19 degrees to around 12 degrees.

Heath fever!
Yes! It is that time of year, where purple and pink rise high. The last couple of days the heath fever is rising, and the best way to deal with it is to just give in to it!
So last Monday I took the little bike, set the alarm very early and decided to just go! The low clouds shortly after sunrise started to disappear and the beautiful colours in the sky, the quality light created that perfect feel on the heather.
Please check out my blog where I do weekly heath fever updates, including some short videos!

Panoramic view over Nijmegen
Last week there was a full moon. Never done it before but my fellow photography friend Ronald Verwijs asked me to join his moment together with @albertdrosphotography.
Just in time I arrived at the scene, positioned myself, got some guidance from Albert, and the rest is history. Since I have never done this before I didn't now what to expect, it went pretty fast and afterwards I've realised I should have taken a panorama to show more of the city with my 100-400 lens. So I managed to take this shot, pretty OK-ishm not the best in terms of light on the foreground, but still OK to share here as a view.
As from Tuesday the famous Nijmeegse 4-daagse will start its 107th edition. In the third Tuesday of July, we walk the 4Days Marches together, the world’s largest walking achievement event! Over 45,000 participants with more than 70 different nationalities, from as young as 11 to over 90, come to Nijmegen every year to walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometres for four days in this city on the Waal river and its beautiful, wooded surroundings. They all gather with the same objective in mind: being awarded the coveted 4Days Marches Cross.

Caribean skies over the little Chapel
An early summer shot near one of my favourite local patches on just a few minutes from my house... This time I decided to go up closer with the wide angle zoomlens to get a different shot.

A beatifull morning in Dutch nature
Despite the fact that the regular weather report barely mentioned fog, I decided after a round of weather dads and a check-in with #weatherguru and #weathermaster @paulbegijn that I should just go for it the #KWW way. The alarm clock was set for a terrible time again (04:30). And started chaotically in the field due to the choice stress. The sky was super beautiful, so I took advantage of that first because I saw that the clouds would soon disrupt the golden hour.
Thanks to Kashia who looked alertly ahead, I was alerted to the presence of two grazing female deer, before I would walk further into the area. I switched for this photo quickly from 400-800 to my beloved 100-400 lens, to create a more landscape wildlife photo as the sky and the group of trees made for a good composition.
After first doing a little dance because of the mist and beautiful morning colors I could start making these nature images and still combine the beautiful morning landscape colors a bit. At half past seven I drove home tired and satisfied, to then have a relaxed Ascension Day at home. How was your day?

Kleine zilverreiger

Castle Doornenburg sky view
FInding myself in a low cloud foggy morning last Monday. I had the time and patience, which meant when the sun appeared I launched the drone and took the opportunity to shoot this photo. I was just in time cause with in a minute the fog disappeared quickly.
I look the long shades which you can emphasize when using a drone, which I very specifically use in my photography.
