IJssellaan during blue hour. It was cold and freezing weather offering ideal conditions for a blue hour. A perfect location as well for my personal Helix project in which I try to capture during blue hour this colorful renovated tower.

Musis Sacrum Parkzaal Arnhem @ blue hour
recently the concert hall was. rebuild. Last week Queen Maxima opened the new hall, called Parkzaal. I took an opportunity during a nice blue hour taking some first bluehours of this recently rebuild hall. A nice moment using the Sigma Art 12-24 mm. f/4 ultra wide lens.
Too balance the light I used HDR possibilities by using 3 images which I merged together in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. I first imported the images via Adobe Lightroom Classic CC on my iMac, created a collection set, than did basis selections and editing in Lightroom CC on my MacBook so I could work on it from the couch and finalized the images on my iMac using Lightroom Classic CC. Just a new way in being able to edit your photos where ever you are or which device you have by hand. Main advantage, combining family with photo editing fun 🙂

Autumn sports
Another favourite place of mine, also of many mountainbikers.... quickly after another biker passed bye, switched my ISO settings and aperture and focus on the biker.... the rays of light make the image complete... inside the forrest/parks the autumn colours are hardly there.....

John Frostbrug aan de Arnhemse Rijn | Bridge too Liberation Experience 2017
I think i've posted like 40 or more shots already from this bridge. Counting the numbers in my Lightroom catalog, which starts at 2009 results in 1.286 results, and I know there a more due to missing metadata.
Last week I decided to take a look at the bridge to find out if it was lighted maroon red as it is normally in September. The maroon red colour is the colour of the British Airborne troops barret.
This year it is 73 years ago that 10.000 brave young men part of the British Airborne regiment on the 17th of September, jumped out of a plane and landed not far from Arnhem on the Ginkelse heath fields. They where part of the plan Operation Market Garden, which was a WWII plan to free Europe before winter 1944 from Nazi Germany. The goal of these brave British paratroopers was after the landing to capture the John Frostbridge and hold it untill the arrival of other regiments. Southwards other regiments fought there way up from Belgium. 600 paratroopers reached the Arnhem bridge bu the Germans fought back. After 4 days they retreated back from the bridge to the strong hold in Oosterbeek. After 9 days the remaing troops escaped in the night back to free territory. Operation Market Garden ended and the Arnhemse Rhinebridge, ended as a Bridge too far.
Since 2014 the Bridge too Liberation Experience event started.
During this event we remember the event that took place in Arnhem, what freedom means and awareness is also created for the future. Every year, there is a central theme.
Around this theme, the experience is built up. Many different show features are used, making a visit to the event a real experience. And all of that around this remarkable bridge I am photographing since 2012. If you look careful enough in this image and not being distracted by the boat line, you can see they where building up the Bridge to Liberation Experience. A Perfect Blue Hour for a revisit
The bridge is now lighted with subtile yellow tones. All in relation with the final this Sunday, KNVB soccer final between Vitesse Arnhem and AZ from Alkmaar. Also Vitesse celebrates their 125 years birthday 😉 So they changed the colors of the bridge. So a revisit was a good opportunity for a new fresh blue hour.

This shot I had in mind...... the only thing that needed to be done is go out there and visualize what I thought it could look like. The blue hour was just perfect despite the overcast that day.

Although it might have been done for maybe a 1.000.000 times, I just can't get enough from these kind of forrest lanes, autumn colors and some heavy fog.

`War monument The Wing | Oorlogsmonument De Vleugel
Along the recently opened RijnWaalpad, connecting Nijmegen with Arnhem and visaversa is Parc Lingezeegen. In this newly developed parc are some rare elements to be found, like this warmonument, called the Wing. It is nicely lighted blue and on this sky it offered me early this week a nice contrast.

Arnhem Giro Italia en de witte villa in roze
The days last longer, more light so blue hours turn more difficult I feel. You still see the bright magenta colours of light in the sky blended with the blues of the falling night.
Took this shot in the Arnhem park Sonsbeek de Witte Villa is also lighted with Pink. Also other places in Arnhem because of the Giro Italia are lighted with pink colours. The Giro Italia is starting tomorrow and passing Arnhem two times and also coming through the city of Huissen I live.

Met de hele dag de meest fraaie wolkenlandschappen hoopte ik tijdens het gouden uurtje dat er nog wat wolken zouden overblijven. Eerder die dag was ik al hier voorbij gekomen en zag het plaatje al voor me.... 'warm licht, kleurenspel op de wolken en de schapen in de voorgrond). Uiteindelijk rond 8 uur dit moment vastgelegd. De zon gaf de aanwezige wolken een fraaie kleur en kon ik met de hup van het 'baas schaap' (links!) de groep schapen in dit fraaie geheel vastleggen.
